Shoyeido Ruby Incense Review

Today I am reviewing Shoyeido Ruby incense sticks.

These are another incense in their ‘Jewel’ series.

Shoyeido describes this incense as:

Cinnamon and patchouli add soft fire to a rosy sandalwood base.

Ingredient list: Cinnamon (Cinnamonomi cortex), Sandalwood (Santali lignum), Saussurea (Saussureae radix), Patchouli (Pogostemi herba) and spices.

This is a very cinnamon forward incense. Particularly if you waft the smoke towards you. I personally don’t really like heavy cinnamon incense sticks very much. I prefer my cinnamon to be in the background, altering the smell of the accompanying scents, and adding some spice.

The patchouli and Saussurea don’t come on as strong, although I would say these are arguably the better smelling part of the formulation. I actually wish these were the stronger part of the blend.

Just to much cinnamon for me, but if you like cinnamon-heavy incense blends, then you may really like this one.

Have you tried Shoyeido Ruby incense sticks?
