Shrinivas Sugandhalaya Brand Spotlight

A strong creative passion led to the creation of Shrinivas Sugandhalaya. In places such as India, the burning of incense is a common occurrence and is used during meditation, prayer, and worship.

Scent is also known to play a crucial role in memory. Some may remember the delicious smell their grandmother’s apple pie, or those spicy Texan BBQ ribs. In a similar way, the scent of incense can often become intertwined into our memories.

Shrinivas Sugandhalaya was founded by the late Shri K.N. Satyam Setty. He actually suffered from a condition known as ‘anosmia’, which is known to interfere with one’s ability to smell. Instead of relying on his nose, he became entrenched in ancient Indian texts, relative to the art of crafting perfumery and incense, and in 1964 he started a small incense factory.

Shri K.N. Satyam Setty became deeply interested in the masala techniques used by monks in medieval times. This is a much more natural and high quality incense compared to incense using the charcoal or sawdust method.

Masala incense sticks are typically quite abundant in fragrant resins and plant oil.

Although being one of the more popular varieties throughout India, as well as the world, some people find masala styled incense to be over-powering, or simply to strong for their senses, but anybody with a well seasoned nose would definitely appreciate this form of incense.

A New Beginning: Satya Incense

Satyam Setty constantly studied advanced incense techniques. Him and his son Shri Balakrishna Setty created the famous ‘Super Hit’ incense blend, which is one of the most popular incense fragrances in the world. Their unique takes on nag champa provided them a quick path to success and many consider this to be their favorite brand of incense.

Shrinivas Sugandhalaya (BNG) LLP is now considered a dedication to his father’s passion. Balakrishna Setty has made sure that the company crafts the same quality incense that the Shrinivas Sugandhalaya was originally known for. Their state of the art manufacturing facilities are currently setup in the iconic incense capital of Bangalore, India. The cherished and long-time fans of the original are sure to love the incense all the same.

In addition to their ‘Super Hit’ incense, their nag champa was/is very popular within the hippie culture. Their blue box nag champa remains one of the best selling incense sticks in the world. A large portion of their incense is sold under the Satya incense line.
