Sometimes when your salt lamp gets sad, it cries. Just kidding. Salt lamps don’t actually cry or leak water. If you notice your salt lamp leaving a trace of water, don’t fret, because there’s nothing wrong with it.
The reason water can sometimes collect around a salt lamp is due to the natural hygroscopic qualities of salt. If something is hygroscopic, it means it absorbs water from surrounding air. You may notice that it disperses more water in more humid conditions. Over time the moisture might affect the formation of the salt lamp structure. Although salt lamps usually last quite a long time, keep in mind that moisture damage is inevitable.
